On August 14-15, 2024, Galaxy Ville hosted a special two-day Moulage Workshop for students from three different vocational colleges. The workshop took place at Kolej Vokasional ERT Setapak and was designed to give young fashion design students practical experience in a unique fashion technique called “moulage.”
This intensive workshop was attended by 15 students, along with their teachers, from Kolej Vokasional ERT Setapak, Kolej Vokasional Sultan Abdul Samad Banting, and Kolej Vokasional Sepang. It was led by famous fashion designer, Wan Huzairil Wan Hussein, who showed the students how to use mannequins and fabric to create clothing.
Hands-On Learning with a Fashion Pro
The students learned by doing! They were each given a mannequin (or dummy), fabric, ribbons, and pins to practice making clothes. Wan Huzairil showed them how to measure fabric, cut it properly, and create dresses and skirts. He worked closely with each student, guiding them through the steps and giving them tips on how to improve. It wasn’t just about learning techniques but actually making something with their own hands.
The students found the workshop incredibly useful. Not only did they enjoy the hands-on approach, but they also appreciated learning directly from a well-known designer. The feedback we received was great, with most students wishing the workshop could last even longer—many suggested adding a few more days to dive deeper into advanced designs.
A Big Thanks to Everyone Involved!
We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this workshop a success. A huge thank you goes out to BPLTV, Encik Nazri, and Puan Noorzalina for trusting us to organize this event. We also want to thank Puan Hajah Majmin, the director of Kolej Vokasional ERT Setapak, and Puan Vivien, the head of the fashion department, for their incredible support.
In the end, this workshop wasn’t just about learning new skills. It was about giving young designers a chance to grow, create, and imagine what they can achieve in the fashion world. We hope to see more workshops like this in the future, and who knows? Maybe some of these students will be the next big names in fashion!
